Trying to catch a breath

Our week was a bit crazy here.  Madie had a bug that started... oh 13 days ago.  It was a Saturday and she held onto a fever, and headache and shredded throat.  I took her That Tuesday and she had both a rapid and a 24 hour strep, both of which were negative.  We were given antibiotics, and we finished them.  We were back in the doctors office on Monday (day 9) and our doc was perplexed.  Madie was still holding onto a fever, and if she wasn't sleeping (20 hrs a day) then she was letting me know her head and tummy were still killing her.  She would even point to her left side.  So 72 hrs later, with no change, I took her back in for a blood work up.  All her symptoms made me, and my nurse friend think that she had mono.  A few hours later they called to say it was negative.  I was at my wits end, had a mini melt down, and decided if we woke with more of the same, I was going to wrap her up and take her to children's.  I had to head to class for about an hour, so I gave her motrin and told Kaila to call me when she woke up.  After I got there Kaila texted me to let me know she woke up, temp was 98.6 and Madie said she was starving.  Shocked I stayed a while longer at class, and then headed home.  We woke this morning to a much more lively Madie.  She had color, and teased her brother.  Jake said he loved it since it meant that she was feeling better.  Now it is evening on the 13th day of this nasty virus, and Madie is curled up next to me on my bed snoring.  I am so overwhelmed with joy that she is feeling, and looking so much better than she did just over 24 hours ago.

On with life...

Tomorrow I get to go shopping for Annika's 4th birthday party!  She found an ad from walmart whose back page 2 pages were devoted to the smallest force in Disney's arsenal: Tinkerbell!  Yes, she about exploded into a ball of confetti over the images of the most imaginative tinker fairy.  Tomorrow we will have a Tinkerbell cake, with tinkerbell goodie bags, full of pink and green goodies.  We will drink green beverages, and Miss Fidget will no doubt get some gifts that may have tinkerbell's image.  I have some idea's in mind while I venture out to shop with my mother in law.

On the horizon is my father in law's trip to Vietnam.  He will be going with other representatives with the United Methodist Church to help train future pastors there, and help with the planning of a facility that will act as a multi-purpose center for the community.  I am looking forward to hearing about his adventure.  But before he heads out we need to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of him and my mother in law on Sunday.  It takes a lot of patience, and understanding to make it to 40 years.  But their love for each other not only blessed me with my husband, but showed my husband how to be the man he is in our family.

Congratulations Don and Marsha!!
